Step 1: Preparation
Turn the electricity off
Ensure your power source is turned off before installation. This can be done by first shutting off the breaker in the panel box and then verifying that there’s no power going to the fan units by using a voltage checker or checking for sparks when flipping the switch.
Gather the necessary tools and materials
You’ll need a drill, a Phillips-head screwdriver, wire cutters, electrical tape, a ladder, safety glasses, and a voltage tester.
Choose a mounting option
Decide whether you want to use a downrod or low-profile flush mounting. The Prominence Home ceiling fan supports both options but depending on the height of your ceiling and your preference, one or the other may be better suited for you. Here we’ll discuss low-profile flush mounting installation in this guide.
Choose location
Make sure the blades are a minimum of 30 inches away from any obstructions. Additionally, double-check that the downrod length is long enough so that the blades can be at least 7 feet above the flooring.
Step 2: Assembly Instructions
Install the mounting bracket
In order to safely and securely install the mounting bracket, it is necessary to attach it to the outlet box through the use of washers and mounting screws that come in a package with the outlet box. It is of utmost importance to make sure that when attaching the fan, an outlet box marked “Acceptable for fan support” should be used as this reduces potential risks such as fire, electrical shock, or injury.
Attach the lower bracket
In order to attach the lower bracket, it is necessary to remove the wire restraint that is located on top of the bracket as well as any pre-assembled screws. Then, one side of the lower bracket needs to be inserted into one of the slots in the mounting bracket while aligning the four screw holes. Once this side has been securely placed, the other side of the lower bracket can be inserted into the second slot in the mounting bracket. This needs to be done carefully and with precision until all four screw holes are properly aligned.
Secure the lower bracket
Firmly attach the lower bracket to its corresponding mounting bracket using the four screws that were previously removed.
Wire the fan
In order to wire a fan, one must begin by connecting the fan’s electrical wiring to the household power supply. Specifically, the green color-coded wire from the lower mounting bracket should be connected to the bare/green supply wire. The white-colored wire from the fan should be connected to the white supply wire, while both the black and blue wires from the fan should be connected to the black supply wire. Lastly, all wiring connections must be securely fastened with wire connectors for safety and stability.
Attach the motor housing to the mounting bracket
Start by partially loosening two of the mounting screws already attached to the J-slots in the motor housing. These screws can be identified as they are pre-installed by the manufacturer. Then, completely remove the remaining two mounting bracket screws from the round holes. To attach the motor housing to the mounting bracket, carefully lift it up and align the J-slots with the loosened mounting screws. Ensure that the motor housing is twisted in a clockwise direction to secure it into place. Once complete, re-insert the two previously removed mounting bracket screws and tighten all four screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Attach the blades to the blade arms
When attaching the blades to the blade arms, it is necessary to partially insert blade screws with accompanying blade washers through the blade and into the blade arm. For optimal security, ensure that the screws are tightened gradually and begin with the one in the middle. Repeat this step for each blade and arm to ensure that all pieces are securely assembled.
Install the two E26-base LED bulbs
When replacing bulbs, it is important to ensure that the bulbs and light kit have cooled before touching them.
Install glass bowl
Installing a glass bowl is an important part of installing a light kit, as it allows the lampshade to be securely attached. To begin, take the three spring clips and insert them into the neck of the glass bowl. Push firmly on the bowl until it snaps into place and is secured by the clips. It’s essential that the glass bowl is installed properly to ensure the lampshade is securely attached.
Attach pull chain extensions
Pull chain extensions are an important part of installing a light kit on a ceiling fan. To begin, locate the chain guides located within the light kit and feed the pull chains down through them. Once the pull chains are firmly in place, attach the pull chain extensions. Upon completion of this step, turn on the power at both the breaker box and wall switch to ensure that the fan is functioning properly.
If you want to install a ceiling fan without a light kit, then:
Install switch housing cap to switch housing
Unscrew the three switch housing screws from the top of your light kit to detach the switch housing cap. Securely fasten it back into place with those same three screws, then insert and firmly affix a plug button in its center hole for completion.
Attach pull chain extension
To operate the reverse switch, it helps to remember that the light pull chain will be located on your left side, whereas the fan pull chain should be positioned directly to its right. Note: If you are installing without a light kit attached, then no need to worry; there is no accompanying light pull chain.
Thus, to attach the pull chain extensions, feed them through the provided chain guides and use wire connectors to firmly secure them in place. Turn on the power at the breaker box and wall switch to ensure that the fan is functioning properly, then use the pull chains to adjust the speed of your ceiling fan.
Step 3: Test your fan
Once all the steps for installing your Prominence Home ceiling fan have been completed, it’s important to test that everything is functioning properly. To do this, first, turn on the power at both the breaker box and wall switch. Then, adjust the speed settings of your fan using the pull chains provided. If you are operating a light kit along with your ceiling fan, make sure the light switches are functioning as intended. Finally, inspect the fan blades for any wobbles or other strange noises and if anything appears to be out of place, then it’s important to troubleshoot the issue before using your newly installed Prominence Home ceiling fan.
Once everything is functioning properly, you can then enjoy the cool breeze of your brand-new Prominence Home ceiling fan! Congratulations on successfully installing a Prominence Home ceiling fan! We hope this step-by-step guide has been helpful in getting you up and running.
